Build update

Dear members and shop supporters

We are very pleased to report that all is going to plan with the shop build. On 9th September the scaffolding screen was installed across the rear of the church, and we have now sheeted off our work area. This will enable us to limit the migration of dust into the church.

A plywood access tunnel is in place so that visitors can continue to access the church while the work progresses. The balcony pews and raked flooring have been dismantled ready for the construction of the new levelled floor – and the new screen and shop enclosure is being surveyed ready for manufacture.

The rear 4 cast iron radiators have been disconnected to make way for a more carbon friendly heating system, and plans are in place to upgrade the church’s foul drainage system.

A lot has been achieved in a short space of time, and the work has been greatly assisted by the volunteers who have come along to our working parties. These will continue through the autumn generally on Saturday mornings from 10.00 – 12.30.

We hope very much that we will have the shop and café open ready for Spring next year. Meanwhile, if you would like to be involved either by joining our team of volunteers or simply by purchasing membership in ‘The Society’ please contact the Shop Committee Chair, Helen Demuth - 07801 371108 or e mail helen@amberleyshoponthecommon.co.uk
